Vessels of Honor

Written by Debby Baril

When life has got you down and the voices of the world whisper that you are useless, know this: you are a vessel of honor - consecrated, Christ-filled, and commissioned.

 Consecrated.

“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

When the past comes calling, slam the door shut and remind yourself you are a new creation, consecrated to His purposes! Be so captivated by the beauty of God’s holiness that nothing in this world can entice your affections away. Be so permeated with the presence and love of God that no sin can rival the power of it. Be so satisfied with God that it outweighs what little or temporary pleasure the world has to offer.

Christ-Filled.

For God…has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves (2 Corinthians 4:6-7).

Oh, how many times have I stood to preach, pray, or serve when I felt empty or unworthy! The Holy Spirit reminds me that I might be fragile but the One inside me is not!

You are a carrier of the anointing and fragrance of Christ! As a vessel of honor declare, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

 Commissioned.

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every
good work” (2 Timothy 2:21).

The day we gave our lives to Christ we were cleansed and became vessels of honor. What joy to know we are useful to the Master! God declares, “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10a).

You are anointed to share the good news that Jesus sets captives free, heals, delivers, and saves! You are destined to do the works of Christ
(Luke 4:18-19; John 14:12).

When voices say you don’t have what it takes, declare with the apostles of old, “It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. 6 He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant” (2 Corinthians 3:5-6a).

Are you struggling in your leadership call today? Remember it is God who calls, and it is God who equips! You have been set apart, filled with His life, and empowered by His Spirit.

You are a vessel of honor, anointed to serve!
